The International Conference on Adoption Research (ICAR) is a premier event for attendees from the Global South and Global North who are devoted to ensuring permanent, nurturing family care for every child. A cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas, innovation and information, the conference explores how to improve the entire spectrum of services for children without permanent families. 

RESOURCE

Policymakers and legislators look to research-based facts and statistics to inform their decision-making. Professionals draw from the most recent studies and reports to better understand the needs of the populations they are serving and identify areas for growth in their work. Members of the media, authors, and other content creators look to NCFA's expertise to help them identify the most relevant and accurate information about adoption as they cover current events and raise awareness about stories and issues in adoption.

Our research brings together data, professional expertise, and lived perspectives to generate insights that help adopted children and their families thrive. Through original studies and collaboration with experts across disciplines, we provide accurate, reliable, and up-to-date research that informs and equips professionals, policymakers, and the public to improve and strengthen adoption.

REPORT

The First International Gathering of Korean Adult Adoptees was held in 1999, Washington, DC.  This three day event invited Korean adoptees from all over the world. About 500 of us came together to connect, discover community and spend time sharing our experiences. 

For many, it was the first time being in a room where they entered as an adoptee and as a Korean person. For one portion of the event, we were divided by age and given an opportunity to have more intimate discussions with peers.

BKA supports encouraging and empowering our community to engage with participating in research. In doing so, BKA provides education about research participation that supports intentional decision making.
